Book Grants

The Junior League of Spokane is excited to be able to further our support to the Spokane community through our Book Grant program.

The purpose of these grants is to promote childhood literacy in the Spokane area. Applicants should identify how their request aligns with that purpose; what, if any, historically underserved or underrepresented populations would be supported; as well as any challenges that would be alleviated by receiving a book grant.

Eligible applicants include local community organizations, non-profits, educational agencies, classrooms, and individuals.

Applications are due by noon on Monday, March 14, 2022.

Successful applicants will be notified by March 28, 2022.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified within 30 days of the award date.

Applications are now open. Click here to fill out an application.

Up until the 3rd grade, most children are learning to read. Beginning in the 4th grade, they are reading to learn.

Last year alone, the Junior League of Spokane awarded books and more than $2,300 in grants to local teachers, schools, and community organizations

Adequate literacy skills can be correlated to a person’s likelihood to remain out of poverty, avoid criminal behavior, and adequately care for oneself and others.
